As April unfolds, we are immersed in the vibrant elemental energy of wood, which encourages movement and productivity. It calls us to awaken from the hibernation of winter and take action to nurture the areas of our lives that are ready for transformation, growth, and renewal.
I am always filled with a renewed sense of hope and optimism during the spring. It’s as if the world begins to come alive again and I can’t help but feel a little brighter and more energized myself. Aligning with this energetic shift gives me a sense of purpose and drive that I don’t feel during the winter months. I suddenly have the determination to get things done that have been on my to-do list for far too long.
One of those things is to spring clean my home. In order to prepare for new opportunities to blossom this spring, I know I need to start with a clean slate. I am a big believer in the idea that baby steps lead to bigger things. By clearing out clutter, you create physical and mental space for fresh energy to flow.
Have you ever walked into your closet and found that you didn’t know where to look because there was just too much stuff? I said to myself the other day, “Find 10 things right now that you haven’t worn in the last year or two, and take them to Goodwill.” It was the perfect way to get me started on what turned out to be a very productive day. I also like to make it fun. When my daughter was younger and we needed to clean the house, I would say, “Okay, let’s pick up five things.” She would, and then I’d say, “Five more!” It turned into a game that we both enjoyed.
The physical act of cleaning has a positive impact on our overall wellbeing. It boosts our mood, reduces stress and effectively dissolves feelings of overwhelm. By taking the time to organize and maintain our environment, we create spaces that nurture a healthier, happier, focused state of mind.
This is the time for new beginnings. Whatever area of your life that needs extra care and attention to grow and transform, trust that April will provide the support you need to make it happen. I hope you have a productive month and that many new things begin to blossom for you!
In wellbeing,
Betsy
