I love celebrating the spirit of the season with family and friends and of course it is always nice to share in the holiday cheer with all of you at the spa!

We transition into the reflective energies of the water element this month. Water represents our ability to manage our emotions, overcome obstacles and learn to go with the flow. Its fluid nature is the most yin of all the elements. It encourages us to be flexible, soften our demeanor and turn within to reflect on the wisdom of our higher guidance. When imbalanced, it can cause feelings of anxiety, indecisiveness and emotional overwhelm.

As much as I love them, the holidays can be stressful, so maintaining balance this month is a top priority. Making sure to take enough time for self-care will greatly enhance your wellbeing. A good question to ask yourself this season is: How did I manage my emotions today?

While everyone is busy doing last minute shopping for gifts and the holiday parties are in full swing, the Five Elements Theory reminds us that this season is actually the time for us to slow down. It’s a time to regroup from the past year and reflect on what’s important to us moving forward. What did you learn this year? What are you committed to leaving behind as you move into 2024?

I have a great exercise to share with you that I think you will enjoy doing when you have a quiet moment. I call it, “Out with the Old, In with the New” It’s a wonderful way to release the things you want to leave behind in 2023 and get clear about the things you intend to call forth in 2024.

  • Take out two sheets of paper and one write “Leaving Behind” and on the other write, “Bringing In”. On the leaving behind sheet, write down everything you don’t want to bring into the New Year (Don’t worry if you need lots of paper!) On the “Bringing In” sheet, write down everything you want and are intending for yourself.
  • On New Years Eve, burn the sheet with everything you are leaving behind and really feel it leave your life. Read your “Bringing In” sheet and get excited about all the great things on your list, Keep it in a safe place where you can reflect on it throughout the year.

I hope this helps you end the year feeling relaxed and excited about what’s to come in 2024.

From all of us at Five Wellbeing, we hope you enjoy all the magic this season brings and wish you a very Happy Holiday!

In Wellbeing,

Betsy
